Solution:

∴  f(-1) = (-1)140 + 2(-1)151 + k

=1-2+k=k-1

∴ 12 + 3a-b = 0 ⇒ 3a-b = -12               …(i)
Again let x + 1 = 0, then x = -1
∴p(-1) = (-1)3  –  2(-l)2 + (a – 1) X (-1) – b + 6
= -1-2 + 1 – a – 6 + 6
= 4 – a- b
∴ x + 1 is a factor
4-a-b = 0 ⇒  a + b = 4                  …(ii)
Adding (i) and (ii),
4 a = -12 + 4 = -8 ⇒  a = 84 = -2
From (ii),
and -2 + 6 = 4⇒ 6 = 4 + 2 = 6
∴ a = -2, h = 6                       (b)
