James Harriot or better known as Dr. James Alfred Wight is a veterinary surgeon as well as a writer. Well, the story ‘A triumph of Surgery ’ is itself written by him. The story begins when he finds out Tricky going on a walk with Mrs. Pumphrey his master.
Finding out the fat the dog has shocked the vet. Well, according to the doctor, the dog Tricky resembled a bloated sausage having legs on each side.
This made him recommend to stop feeding the dog. However, being overly affectionate towards the dog, made Mrs. Pumphrey somehow reject the advice. Thus in no time, Tricky fell ill. And ultimately the doctor was called for.
The doctor somehow takes the dog to his chamber to treat, although he knew that the mistress Mrs. Pumphrey will try to stick with her dog. So, he took the dog and arranged for a bed in his surgery. Well for the next two days, the dog did not move much.
Tricky also did not eat anything. However, on the third day, he wanted to move outside. And there he started playing with the bigger dogs. Tricky also went to the extent of licking the other dog’s bowl in order to finish the leftovers on their bowl.
Within a few days, Tricky’s condition started improving. Additionally, he fought with the other dogs to eat. Once the news reached Mrs. Pumphrey she felt like sending eggs to the hospital to help Tricky with energy. But, Mr. Harriot and his partner took those eggs as breakfast.
Furthermore, to help improve Tricky’s blood level, Mrs. Pumphrey started sending wine in bottles. Well, this was also consumed by Mr. Harriot. Mrs. Pumphrey also went to the level of sending Brandy in bottles. Which was again taken by Mr. Harriot. But this made him call Mrs. Pumphrey to the hospital.
Once Tricky saw his mistress, he showed feelings of ecstasy and jumped inside the car. And this made Mrs. Pumphrey very happy and thankful. She also added that the surgery was a success since the doctor cured Tricky.
