CLAT Syllabus for English Language

This section assesses your English abilities by asking you questions about comprehension passages and grammar. Candidates are graded on their comprehension of the passage, the core theme, the definitions of words used in the passage, and other factors in the comprehension part. 

Correction of incorrect grammatical sentences, filling of blanks in phrases with proper words, and so on are all part of the grammar component.

  • Passages: There will be passages of 450 words based on the contemporary, historically significant fiction and non-fiction writing
  • Skills required: The passages will consume five to seven minutes to read and comprehend. Candidates have to compare and contrast different viewpoints, draw out inferences and conclusions and also understand the meaning of words and phrases from the passage to attempt the questions.

CLAT legal aptitude – What to Study?

It will include questions designed to assess the candidate’s knowledge of the law and its many facets. On the one hand, the legal aptitude portion will assess the candidate’s legal knowledge, while on the other hand, it will assess the candidate’s awareness of current legal concerns.
