The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India has entrusted the responsibility of conducting the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Delhi. CTET Exam Eligibility Criteria 2023
You should know the CTET Eligibility for the Exam before applying for the exam. The reserved categories will get a relaxation of 5% in the qualifying marks in the academic eligibility of CTET. CTET Exam Eligibility Criteria for Primary Classes (Classes 1-5)
For primary levels, you must fulfill the criteria given below:
- You must pass senior secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks.
- You should pass or appear in the final year of 2- a year Diploma in Elementary Education
OR
- You have to pass senior secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks.
- You need to complete or appear in the final year of 2- a year Diploma in Elementary Education, in accordance with NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002.
OR
- You should complete senior secondary (or it’s equivalent) with at least 50% marks.
- You have to pass or appear in the final year of 4- a year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
OR
- You have to pass senior secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks.
- Along with it, you should have a pass certificate of 2- a year Diploma in Education (Special Education) *.
OR
- You should have a graduation degree in the relevant discipline.
- You must have a certificate of two-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
CTET Exam Eligibility Criteria For Elementary Classes (Classes 6-8)
You must fulfill the criteria given below:
- You should have a bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline that must be obtained.
- Also, you must accomplish or appear in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
OR
- You should possess a bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks that must be acquired.
- You have to complete a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.).
OR
- You have to complete Graduation with at least 45% marks that must be done in the relevant discipline.
- You must accomplish a year in Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.) as minimum qualifications, in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard.
OR
- You should pass Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks
- Also, You have to pass or appear in the final year of 4- a year Bachelor’s in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

The CTET exam authority releases the CTET form 2023 online mode on the official website soon. Eligible applicants can apply for an online CTET Application Form 2023 on the official CBSE website. Candidates must fill in all the important details in the CTET exam form 2023 such as personal, contact, and academic details.

CTET 2023 Exam Pattern
CTET Exam Pattern has two papers – Paper 1 (Primary Stage) and Paper 2 (Elementary Stage)

CTET Exam Syllabus 2023

CTET Exam Paper 1 is for Primary Stage Teachers Candidates, and Paper 2 is for Candidates of Elementary Stage Teachers. There will be 5 major subjects for CTET paper 1 & Paper 2. Candidates can also appear for both papers.
- Paper 1 Syllabus has Child Development and Pedagogy. It focuses on educational psychology and teaching of children aged 6-11.
- Paper 2 Syllabus comprises five sections viz., Child Development and Pedagogy for children aged 11-14 years.
- Language 1, Language 2, Mathematics and Science, and Social Science are the other four sections.
- Language 1 and Language 2 will contain questions from comprehension and language development.
Note that both Paper 1 and Paper 2 has two Language sections – Language I and Language II.

CTET Exam 2023 Result

CTET Applicability
- The CTET shall apply to schools of the Central Government (KVS, NVS, Central Tibetan Schools, etc.) and schools under the administrative control of UT’s of Chandigarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, and NCT of Delhi.
- CTET may also apply to the unaided private schools, who may exercise the option of considering the CTET.
- Schools owned and managed by the State Government/local bodies and aided schools shall consider the TET conducted by the State Government. However, a State Government can also consider the CTET if it decides not to conduct the State TET.
- According to CBSE Affiliation Bye-Laws, prescribing the minimum qualifications for teachers to teach various subjects in Classes I to VIII in the schools affiliated to CBSE stands amended to that extent and it shall be mandatory that the teachers appointed hereinafter i.e. 6 March 2012 to teach classes I to VIII in the Schools affiliated to the CBSE shall qualify/pass the Central Teacher Eligibility Test or Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), conducted by the appropriate Central/State Government in accordance with the Guidelines framed by the NCTE for this purpose.
