The Common University Entrance Test which was earlier known as Central Universities Common Entrance Test is the test being organized by the National Testing Agency all over India for admission to various Undergraduate, Integrated, Postgraduate, Diploma, and Certification courses and Research Programs across 45 Central Universities of India. The exam is introduced by the University Grants Commission for admission in various central universities and colleges across the country.

Many prestigious universities are already part of CUET and accept CUET scores to fill spots on various courses. The examination is conducted only in CBT mode which is a Computer Based Test.

CUET Syllabus 2023

The students will be evaluated by the degree of fluency they hold in the Languages through this paper, particularly the questions asked in these sections are based on various types of passages that assess you on various parameters this section includes languages that form the IA & IB section. This is further followed by a Domain-specific subject which will primarily be based on the NCERT-prescribed syllabus for standard XII.

The candidates can choose a maximum of up to 6 subjects in the Domain-specific paper. The third paper will understand your aptitude as it is a General Test to evaluate key skills like logic and reasoning, analytical skills, Numerical ability, current affairs, mental ability, arithmetic ability, and simple application of Basic Mathematical concepts.

Section 1 A/B

Section IA- languages comprise 13 different languages and you can choose any of the given languages These languages include Assamese, Bengali, Panjabi, Hindi, Gujrati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia, Tamil, Telugu Urdu, and Marathi. As per the desired criteria of the university, a candidate must choose one of the listed languages as the medium of the examination while applying.

Next with regards to Section IB There are 20 languages and any other language besides those offered in Section IA may be chosen by the candidate. The language skill is tested through Reading Comprehension based on different types of Passages which can be factual, literary, and narrative. Through these multiple-choice questions, your Literary Aptitude and Vocabulary are evaluated. The duration for both the sections is 45 minutes each and you need to attempt 40 questions out of the given 50 in each language and in each subject respectively.

Section 2- Domain Subjects

For the domain-specific Subject, you have 27 subjects and you need to choose any 6 out of the given 27 Domain-specific subjects as desired by the applicable University. The various subjects in this category include Accountancy, Agriculture, Anthropology, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Environmental Studies, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering Graphics, Entrepreneurship, Fine arts, Geography, History, Home Science, Knowledge tradition practices in India, Legal Studies, Mass Media, Maths, Performing Arts, Physical Education, Physics, Political science, Psychology, Sanskrit, Sociology, and teaching Aptitude.

These are again multiple choice-based questions where 40 questions need to be attempted out of 50 in each of the six subjects. The time duration for this section is 45 minutes

Section 3 – General Subject Tests

Section III of the CUET is a general test for undergraduate programs being offered by Universities. This test is simply a measure of your general ability which includes knowledge of current affairs, General knowledge, Mental ability, Numerical ability, Quantitative reasoning, and simple application of Basic Mathematical concepts including algebra, arithmetic, mensuration, geometry taught upto grade 8 along with logical and analytical Reasoning. In the General Test, you need to attempt 60 questions out of 75 and the duration for it is 60 minutes.
