GATE 2016: List of important topics

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2016 will be conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore. The exam is scheduled to be held from January 30 to February 7, 2016. The result for the same is expected to be declared on March 19. The students who are preparing for GATE will have to make a note that all the topics are important for GATE preparation. As GATE is being conducted online for multiple streams with a large number of test takers across multiple sessions, each with multiple sets of question papers, it is difficult to say for sure as to which topics are important and the weightage they carry.

Engineering Mathematics and General Ability are more important sections as these two subjects together have a 30 per cent weightage in GATE. Further, scoring in these topics is relatively easy as compared to other sections.
