Educational Qualification: To apply for GATE 2022, candidates must possess either of the below-mentioned undergraduate degrees.
Students who are studying in the third or final years of any undergraduate degree are also eligible to appear for the exam.
- Bachelor’s degree of Architecture (5- year course) / Naval Architecture (4- year course) / Planning (4- year course)
- B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch. equivalent examinations of Professional Societies, recognised by MHRD/UPSC/AICTE (e.g., AMIE by Institution of Engineers-India, AMICE by the Institute of Civil Engineers-India and so on)
Pass Percentage: No minimum pass percentage criteria are defined as GATE 2022 eligibility.
Age Limit: There is no age limit defined to apply for the GATE exam.
Nationality: The candidate must be an Indian citizen.

GATE 2022 Architecture and Planning exam will be conducted in online CBT mode. The GATE Exam comprises both Multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. There is a negative marking for the multiple-choice questions while no marks will be deducted for the numerical answer type questions
There will be two sections in paper – General Aptitude (GA) & Candidate’s selected subject.
- Type of Questions: There will be some multiple-choice questions (MCQs). While the remaining questions will include Multiple Select Questions (MSQs) and/ or Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions.
- Number of Questions: There will be total of 65 questions in the paper. 10 questions in GA section and 55 questions in candidate’s selected subject.
- Time Duration: The paper will be of 3 hours duration.
- Maximum Marks: Paper will be of total 100 marks.
- Marking Scheme: Questions in paper will be of 1 and 2 marks. There will be negative marking in MCQs for each incorrect answer chosen. In MCQs section, 1/3 mark will be deducted for 1-mark MCQ and likewise 2/3 mark will be deducted for 2-mark MCQ. There will be no negative marking for incorrect option chosen in MSQ & NAT section.

GATE Architecture and Planning Counselling 2022
IIT Kharagpur will not be conducting any centralized GATE counselling process for Architecture and Planning. Instead, two different counselling processes will be held for admission to M.Tech colleges in India- CCMT and COAP. CCMT and COAP counseling processes are conducted every year for admission into NITs and IITs respectively. Candidates who have qualified GATE Cutoff 2022 are eligible for the counseling.
