KCET Eligibility 2022 | General Criteria
The KCET 2022 Eligibility conditions are divided into two main categories which include educational qualification and nativity.
Nationality
You must be a citizen of India.
Educational Qualifications
- You must have cleared your class 12/PUC examination. If you have appeared in your class 12/PUC examination in 2022 and waiting for your result, then you can also apply for KCET 2022.
- If you have cleared your qualifying examination/class 12/PUC from Karnataka State Open University. then you are NOT eligible to apply for KCET 2022.
- You must have Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects in your class 12 along with Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Electronics/ Computer Science as optional subjects with English as one of the languages of study.
Nativity (For Admission to Government Seats)
- You should have studied in one or more Government or Government recognized educational institutions located in the State of Karnataka for at least SEVEN academic years commencing from 1st standard to 2nd PUC / 12th standard as on 1st July 2022 and must have appeared and passed either SSLC / 10th standard or 2nd PUC / 12th standard examination from Karnataka State.
- You should have studied and cleared either 1st and 2nd year Pre-University Examination or 11th and 12th standard examination within the State of Karnataka from an Educational Institution run or recognized by the State Government and that either of the parents should have studied in Karnataka for a minimum period of SEVEN years.
- If you are a son or daughter of defence personnel who has worked continuously in Karnataka for a minimum period of one year in Karnataka during the Two year period of study of candidates in PUC / 11th and 12th Standard course.
- If you are a ward of serving or retired employee in Central Armed Police Force Service, whose parents at the time of joining the CAPF Service (Central Armed Police Force) had mentioned that his/her home town was in Karnataka, has to submit proof of his/her domicile from the Record Office of the CAPF Unit where the Parent’s service record is maintained. In this category, you must have cleared the qualifying examination from a recognised University or Board or any other institution located anywhere in India.

KCET Eligibility Criteria 2022 | Migrant Candidates of Jammu and Kashmir
- The children of migrants of Jammu and Kashmir are required to show proof of migration which they can get from the jurisdictional District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner” of any state in India.
KCET Eligibility Criteria 2022 | Criteria related to The Mother Tongue of Candidates
- Your mother tongue is Kannada, Tulu, or Kodava must have resided and studied for a duration of 7 years between 1st and 12th standards in disputed Kannada speaking area of South Solapur or Akkalkot or Jeth or Gadhinglaj Taluks of Maharashtra State or Kasargod or Hosadurga Taluks of Kerala State. You will have to undergo and clear the Kannada Language test.
- If you have studied for complete 10 academic years in Kannada language from 1st to 10th standard outside Karnataka, you don’t have to appear for the Kannada Language Test conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA). You must have studied and passed the qualifying exam from any recognised educational institution.
KCET Eligibility Criteria 2022 | Children/ Ward of Members of Parliament
- If you are children of Members of Parliament representing Karnataka, you must have cleared high school from any institution located in any part of India.
KCET Eligibility Criteria 2022 | Candidates of State and Central Government Employees
- If the candidate is a son/daughter of an employee of the Union Government or an employee of the Union or Karnataka State Government Undertaking or Joint Sector Undertaking and his/her parents are likely to be transferred in any part of the country and has worked in Karnataka for a minimum period of 1 year in Karnataka during the 2 year period i.e. 11th and 12th standard of the candidate. These candidates must have cleared the qualifying exam from any recognized educational institute in the state of Karnataka.
- If the candidate is a child of serving or retired employees of the Union Government or employees of Union or Karnataka State Government Undertaking or Joint Sector Undertaking where the employee had mentioned to the employer at the time of joining service that his/her domicile was any place in Karnataka or had studied in any recognized educational institute or institutions in Karnataka for a minimum period of 7 years; and was or is liable to be transferred to any part of India according to the terms and conditions of his employment. It is imperative for the candidates (in such a case) to have cleared the qualifying exam from a University or Board or any other institution located in any part of India.
KCET Eligibility Criteria 2022 For Various Courses

For B.E/B.Tech.:
- You must have passed 10+2 intermediate or its equivalent examination from any recognized board.
- You should have Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics /Biology from any recognized board.
- You must have scored at least 45% marks (40% marks for reserved category) in the PCM/PCB subjects.
- If you are appearing in the qualifying examination, you can also apply for the KCET 2022.
For B.Arch.:
- You must have passed 10+2 intermediate or its equivalent examination from any recognized board.
- You must have scored at least 50% marks (45% marks for reserved candidates) to be eligible for admission.
- You must have Mathematics as subjects in your 12th.
- You must have valid scores in the NATA 2022.
For B.V. Sc. & A.H.:
- You must have passed 10+2 intermediate or its equivalent examination from any recognized board.
- You must have cleared your qualifying examination with 50% Marks (45% marks for reserved category candidates).
