MAT Exam Marking Scheme 2021

The details for marking the MAT Exam marking scheme are given below. 

  • Every section of the MAT question paper carries an equal weightage of 40 marks
  • For each correct answer, one mark is awarded
  • For each wrong attempt, 0.25 marks are deducted 
  • No marks are deducted for unanswered questions

Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension: Language Comprehension is divided into two sections. This part covers the important topics: Verb, Noun, Pronoun, Adjective, Adverb, Antonyms & Synonyms.

Intelligence & Critical Reasoning: Questions from Analytical and Logical Reasoning themes are included in this area. Strong and Weak Arguments, Puzzles, Series, Blood Relations, Coding & Decoding, Visual Reasoning, Syllogisms, and Graphs are some of the topics covered. 

Data Analysis and Data Sufficiency: This section is separated into two sections: Data Analysis and Data Sufficiency. This section covers topics such as line graphs, bar graphs, case lets, pie charts, data comparison, quantitative comparison, and data sufficiency.

Mathematical Skills: In some MBA entrance examinations, the Mathematical Skills part is called Quantitative Aptitude. Questions from Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Mensuration and Modern Maths are asked in this area.

Indian & Global Environment (GK): The Indian & Global Environment (GK) section contains questions from Current Affairs as well as static GK. Although this part is worth 40 points, it is not used to calculate a candidate’s MAT score or percentile.

MAT Exam Pattern for IBT Mode

AIMA also administers the MAT in Internet-Based Test (IBT) format. Candidates do not need to visit an exam center to take this type of examination. They can take the MAT exam from the comfort of their own home or any other suitable place. The IBT mode exam has the same examination format and marking methodology as the CBT and PBT modes.
