What will you learn in CBSE Class 11 Maths Chapter 12 Introduction to Three Dimensional Geometry?
In a given plan, the perpendicular lines which are also mutual to each other and define the three mutually perpendicular planes are called the Coordinate planes. These Coordinate planes further divide the space into eight different sections known as Octants and the lines are known as Coordinate axes.
- Coordinates of a point lying on x-axis is given as-(x, 0, 0)
- Coordinates of a point lying on y-axis is given as- (0, y, 0)
- Coordinates of a point lying on z-axis is given as- (0, 0, z)
- Coordinates of points lying on xy- (x, y, 0)
- Coordinates of points lying on yz – plane- (0, y, z)
- Coordinates of a point lying on xz – plane- (x, 0, z)
- The reflection of the point (x, y, z) in xy – plane is (x, y, –z)
- The reflection of the point (x, y, z) in plane yz is (–x, y, z)
- The reflection of the point (x, y, z) in xz plane is (x,–y, z)
P is a point of the coordinates where the perpendicular distances of P from three coordinate planes are YZ, ZX and XY respectively.
