RRB Group D Eligibility Criteria 2021: Railway Recruitment Board decides the eligibility criteria for the Railway Group D candidates. RRB Group D Eligibility Criteria 2021 | Overview

The eligibility criteria was released by the Railway Recruitment Board on the official website for the RRB Group D exam for the year 2019-20. The candidates must check the RRB Group D Eligibility Criteria before applying. It is because: 

  • The verification of RRB Group D Eligibility Criteria is done with respect to original documents. 
  • This verification is done for the candidate after the completion of all the stages and when the candidate has qualified them all. This round is known as the Document Verification Round.
  • If the candidate does not meet any of the conditions as stated in the criteria then he/she will not be eligible for the post. 
  • In a case where a candidate is appointed and later, does not meet the criteria then he/she will be removed from service. 
  • The offer of an appointment is given only when the candidate meets the eligibility criteria. This eligibility certificate is issued to the candidate by the Government of India. 

RRB Group D Eligibility Criteria 2021

There are four main aspects that a candidate needs to fulfill in order to be eligible for the RRB Group D exams. These aspects are the following: 

  • RRB Group D Age Limit
  • RRB Group D Citizenship/Nationality
  • RRB Group D Educational Qualification
  • RRB Group D Medical Qualification

1. RRB Group D Eligibility Criteria: Age Limit

The upper and lower age limit has been set by the Railway Recruitment Board for the candidates who are willing to apply for the post in RRC Group D. The candidates who are applying for the posts in RRC Level 1 must be of the age group of 18 to 33 years. 

The age limit can be stated as follows for the RRB Group D:

Lower Age limit – 18 years

Upper age limit – 33 years

Thus age should be calculated from 1st July 2019. 

Note:

  1. In case a candidate is found to be eligible for age relaxation on more than one ground, then only the highest of the limits (not cumulative) will be accorded to him for which he is eligible.
  2. No relaxation will be given to the candidates who belong to the SC/ST/OBC-NCL (Non-Creamy Layer) and are applying against unreserved vacancies.
  3. Age relaxation will be given to the PwBD candidates who are applying against the UR vacancies. This will be applicable for UR PwBD only.

2. RRB Group D Eligibility Criteria: Nationality

Another requirement for the candidate to fulfill in the RRB Group D Eligibility is the Nationality or Citizenship Criteria. This should be met by the candidates in order to appear for the Group D Level 1 exam of the Railway Board.

The candidate who fulfills this criteria will only be allowed to appear for the examination. A candidate who is:

  1. A citizen of India, or
  2. A subject of Nepal, or
  3. A subject of Bhutan, or
  4. A Tibetan refugee permanently settled in India from and before January 1, 1962.
  5. A person of Indian origin migrated from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, East African countries of Uganda, Kenya, the United Republic of Tanzania, Malawi, Zaire, Zambia, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

If a candidate who belongs to categories (2), (3), (4) and (5) presents a certificate to the recruiting body of eligibility issued by the Government of India, then he can be eligible. 

3. RRB Group D Eligibility Criteria: Education Qualification

A minimum level of education qualification should be met by the candidate in order to give the RRB Group D exam.

The RRB Group D Eligibility requisites for the same are as follows:

  • Class 10th pass certificate OR
  • ITI degree or diploma
  • Any of the above degrees from a government recognised institution/Board/NCVT/SCVT is valid.

4. RRB Group D Eligibility Criteria: Medical Standard

Another requisite in the eligibility criteria is medical standard which a candidate should meet. This is conducted by the Railway Administration in which the candidate has to pass the prescribed medical fitness tests. 

These medical tests are conducted by the board so that it can be ensured that the duties can be carried out by the candidate for whichever post he has opted for. One of the most important criteria is the visual activity standard which a candidate needs to pass.

B-1

Distant Vision: 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses (power of lenses not to exceed 4D).

Near Vision: Sn. 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required

B-2

Distant Vision: 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses (power of lenses not to exceed 4D).

Near Vision: Sn. 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required

C-1

Distant Vision: 6/12, 6/18 with or without glasses.

Near Vision: Sn. 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required

C-2

Distant Vision: 6/12, NIL with or without glasses.

Near Vision: Sn. 0.6 combined with or without glasses where reading or close work is required

Note:

  • These medical standards apply to the candidates in general and are indicative and not exhaustive.
  • The candidates are not eligible for the post having Medical Standards A2, A3, B1 and B2 in case they have undergone a Lasik surgery or any other surgery procedure to correct refractive error.
  • Candidates who are found out to be not medically suitable will not be able to give any alternative appointment. They have to meet the RRB Group D Eligibility medical criteria in order to be eligible.
