Important Definition for RS Aggarwal Class 8 Maths Chapter 6 Ex 6.5 Solutions
- Binomial
The algebraic expression which has only two terms is known as binomial. If expressed as a single indeterminate, a binomial can be described as axm + bxn
Where a & b are the numbers, & m & n are non-negative distinct integers. x takes the form of a variable.
- Multiplying Binomials
It is an algebraic expression with two terms. It can be added, subtracted, multiplied & divided. While multiplying two binomials, the 1st term of the 1st binomial expression must be multiplied with the 1st and 2nd terms of the 2nd binomial. Similarly, the 2nd term of the 1st binomial must be multiplied with the 1st and 2nd term of the 2nd binomial.
Therefore, when multiplying two binomials, four times a multiplication process can be done. The multiplication of two binomials can be done using different methods like horizontal method, vertical method, & FOIL method.
For instance: (x + 1) and (x + 2) are the two binomials
Therefore, the multiplication process of these binomials is:
(x + 1) & (x + 2) = x2 + 2x + x + 2
(x + 1) & (x + 2) = x2 + 3x + 2
