• Meaning of Rational Numbers

1. A number which can be expressed in the form of a quotient or fraction of two integers which can be either positive or negative is known as a rational number.
2. The fraction is expressed in the form of p/q ,where p is the numerator and q is the non-zero denominator.
3. Every integer is considered as a rational number. For example, 5 is an integer as well as a rational number because 5/1 =  5.
4. Zero is a rational number too and can get written in the form of 0/2, 0/3, 0/4, etc. But you cannot express zero can’t be in the denominator because it is not solvable.

• Types Of Rational Numbers

1. There are two types of rational numbers, standard form rational numbers and positive and negative rational numbers.
2. If a number doesn’t have any common factors but only has two factors that are the dividend and the divisor, a number is considered as a standard form.
3. Numbers which have both positive and negative numbers in the fraction, are called Positive rational numbers.
4. Numbers in which one of the numbers in the fraction is negative, they are called Negative rational numbers.
