NEW DELHI: The National Curriculum Framework for Foundation Stage—2022 will be used starting in the academic year 2023–2024, according to a statement made on Sunday by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
The National Education Policy 2020 mandated the development of NCFFS 2022 by the NCERT, which outlined the competences and learning outcomes as well as broad ideas and techniques that should direct teaching and learning at the foundational stage.
It acts as a template for educators to create curriculum, syllabi, and instructional materials that complement the national educational goals. The board noted in the notification that the NCFFS contains several examples and illustrations that are essential to its execution.
"They make fresh ideas more comprehensible to practicing teachers and aid in the clarification of abstract notions." Many illustrations are skillfully used to deepen comprehension, encourage participation, and give actual examples of how ideas might be applied in regular teaching.
"Hence, it is vital that teachers look at these drawings and contextualise them according to the needs and settings of children," it noted.
"They help to clarify abstract concepts, reinforce learning, and make new ideas more accessible to practising teachers. Myriad examples are aptly incorporated to enhance understanding, foster engagement, and elaborate concrete ways concepts can be implemented in day-to-day teaching.
In addition, it said that schools already running foundational classes could continue to provide three years of pre-primary education. "Schools offering classes I to X/XII may make efforts to gradually augment the infrastructural requirements to include pre-primary classes," it added.
